Not very high, Regional Championships, and some fancy shows out in California.

I was lucky enough to attend the 96 Olympics in Atlanta. LOVED IT! However, I was young and pretty "inexperianced"....so not ALL of it sunk in. But that certainly doesn't take away from the awesome memories! Can't wait for the WEG in KY!!!!

LVN said....I have been to the World Cup twice, both times in LV. It would be fun to attend in a venue sans all the Vegas stuff. However, the show itself has been great both times. Great riders and horses...... and the vendors!! I also attended the show jumping WC once before the two shows were combined.
Margo, that is quite a pose....

I attended the 2000 Olympics in Sydney--Awsome! I saw 3 days of dressage and the cross country portion of the 3-day event. What a trip!! It was somewhat reassuring when many of the riders had mistakes just like those of us at the lower levels (going off course, breaking out of the canter, etc.) It was interesting to watch the scoring for each movement from each judge. Unfortunately, it was also apparent that there is some "political gaming" going on. WEG in KY will be fun!!! SM

Would you believe the 1986 Dressage World Championships in Cedar Valley, Ontario (near Toronto)? (The next Dressage World Championships were held in conjunction with the WEG for the first time. 1986 was the last time it was a stand-alone championship.) It was a memorable experience. Anne-Grethe Jensen won the individual gold on her famous Danish gelding, Marzog. The Germans won the team gold--with Reiner Klimke on Pascal and Jo Hinemann on Ideaal on the team, along with two others I can't remember. I remember Hinemann bringing down the house riding Ideaal down the centerline for his final salute in the freestyle: He went from a medium canter to a halt! The most memorable part of the event for me, however, was watching Klimke, Jensen, Hinemann, etc. warm up and school their horses. It was in the days before such oppressive security, and the access was very open (although you couldn't go into the barns). Amazing! Cynthia
