Lancaster County Fair 2007

The Lancaster County Events Center was the host to this years Lancaster County Fair Open Dressage show. The weather was hot and humid, but never seemed to dampen the spirits of the riders.

The show started at 7:50 am with Intro Classes, and ended around 6pm with First Level. There was an adorable Pas Des Deux over lunch, performed by Kristin Feese and Rebecca Dilley of LEC. It was not to be missed, hopefully there will be another opportunity to showcase their routine this year.

Dr. Jane Linville of Kansas was the judge for the day. She endeared herself to riders with kind comments. I personally didn't hear any griping about the judge, which is always a good sign. To my eye, all the competitors seemed to be having a good time, and were riding well.

According to management the show was completely filled. I don't have the actual numbers but it appeared to be between 30-40 riders. The show was well organized, and did not appear to suffer from the usual plague of show delays we've all become accustomed to. Kudos to Kristin Feese and Jane Shanahan for their hard work putting the whole thing together.

On a personal note: Dobby and I scored 70% on both of our First Level tests, and earned the rank of "Reserve Champion." The Honor of First Level Adult Amateur Champion was bestowed upon Karen Stricklett and her Mare Audacious. Congrats to everyone who competed! I was lovely to see all of you!

Official Results of the show will be posted on the NDA Website.

Sounds like a fun show!

How many rides do you typically get for a Schooling Show in your area?

Congrats, Margo! It really was a fun time and I echo your praise to the management for such a well run show.
I thought the judge did a great job and found words of encouragement (even for me!)while instructing for areas of improvement. The heat didn't even seem as bad as it could have been.
